Proclaiming April Earth Month, an expanded program of volunteer activities will be held April 26 and 27, with additional service events throughout the month, Montgomery County Executive Isaiah Leggett announced.

The Montgomery County Volunteer Center has launched an annual Seasons of Service program that will include Earth Day in the spring and a summer Ready to Learn event in August.

Groups and businesses may create their own projects, partner with community organizations or pass along information to members and employees.

Ways to get involved include reporting a project, volunteering with an existing project or getting ideas and resources. For more information, check out the Earth Day page at www.montgomerycountymd.gov/volunteer, call the Volunteer Center at 240-777-2600 or email volunteer@montgomerycountymd.gov. The Volunteer Center is encouraging organizers of these other projects to register them online at the center's site so that a complete list can be compiled for the month.
