Minority contractors to honor city leaders at diversity awards dinner

On Friday June 3, 2016, The National Association of Minority Contractors, Washington, DC Metropolitan Area Chapter (NMAC-WAMC) will host their "2016 Commitment to Diversity Awards Gala" in the Panorama Room at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church, 1600 Morris Road, SE Washington, DC 20020 from 6:00 p.m. until 11:00 p.m.

The gala will highlight individuals and businesses that have greatly contributed toward building the capacity of minority contractors through subcontracting opportunities, legislation or governmental programs in Washington, D.C., Maryland and Northern Virginia. 

The organization will also recognize an emerging business that has shown the greatest growth by utilizing programs and services of NAMC and honor an individual's lifetime of advocacy on behalf of minority contractors.

  • Dr. Charlene Dukes, President, Prince Georges Community College
    2016 Commitment to Diversity - Maryland Agency Leadership
  • Forney Enterprises, Keith Forney, president & CEO
    2016 Commitment to Diversity - Major Corporate Partner 
  • Gotta-Go-Now!, LLC., Fred Hill, executive manager
    2016 Commitment to Diversity - Emerging Business 
  • The Honorable Marion S. Barry (Posthumous), former mayor & Ward 8 councilmember, Washington, DC
    Commitment to Diversity - Lifetime Advocate 

This year's theme "Viva Las Vegas" will feature an on-stage musical revue by the Philadelphia international recording artist The Intruders. The guest will also be treated to an exhilarating evening of a delectable reception, sumptuous buffet dinner, exotic drinks, door prizes and a Las Vegas-style casino gambling hall! Tickets are on sale at a 50 percent discount of $75.00.

The National Association of Minority Contractors (NAMC) is a tax-exempt nonprofit minority business, trade, educational and advocacy association establishment in 1969 to address the needs and concerns of minority contractors. In February 2005, NAMC-WMAC was founded to serve Washington, DC, Prince George's and Montgomery Counties, Maryland and Northern Virginia.
