Trayon ‘Ward Eight’ White wins Ward 8 council seat primary
Anacostia, DC—This week, Ward 8 voters selected Trayon "Ward Eight" White to be the Democratic nominee for the Ward 8 City Council.
White won decidedly in a crowded five-way race that included current incumbent LaRuby May, as well as candidates Aaron Holmes, Maurice T. Dickens, and Bonita Goode. White will go on to compete in the general election on Tuesday, November 8.
Other Ward 8 Democrats endorsed candidates that won their primary races Tuesday were Eleanor Holmes Norton for the D.C. Delegate to Congress, and Franklin Garcia for Shadow Representative to Congress. At-Large Councilmember Vincent Orange, who won the Ward 8 Democrats' endorsement this spring, appears to have lost his reelection bid by a slight margin to fellow At-Large candidate Robert White.
The Ward 8 Democrats Executive Board have invited all candidates to a join the organization at a unity luncheon on Saturday at the R.I.S.E. Center in Congress Heights.
