On Monday, July 18 Washington Kastles rookie Arina Rodionova overwhelmed Sacramento Capitals Vania King, no. 90 in the world, on her way to 5-0 victory and the Kastles remain undefeated in WTT.

Leander Paes and Rennae Stubbs started the match for the Kastles defeating King and Mark Knowles in the mixed doubles event 5-4(3).

The women's doubles event followed featuring Stubbs and Rodionova vs. King and Yasmin Schnack. Sacramento took a short-lived 3-2 lead before the Kastles roared back. Rodionova smashed a strong backhand return winner and Stubbs masterfully volley game frustrated the Capitals. The Aussie scored two more winners, before Rodionova smashed two aces to finish the set 5-3.

Paes and Bobby Reynolds picked up their second win of the season over Knowles and Dusan Vemic in the men's doubles event. Reynolds hit a passing shot to take the set 5-3 and 15-10 lead into halftime.

Next Rodionova took on King in the women's singles. It was a rout from start to finish. Rodionova converted all three of her break points in the set that lasted less than 20 minutes.

In the last event of the night, Reynolds and Sacramento's Vemic faced off. Vemic managed to force a tiebreak, but Reynolds' big racket proved to be too much for the WTT veteran to handle. Serving with a 3-1 lead, Reynolds polished off the Croatian with a 121 mph ace.

On Saturday, July 16 the Kastles defeated the Boston Lobsters on the road 25-18. Last Friday, the "Kardiac" Kastles outlasted the St. Louis Aces 21-20 in a thrilling overtime match.

On Thursday, July 21 at 7pm the Kastles will finish the regular season on the Waterfront taking on the Philadelphia Freedoms. For more information about the Washington Kastles, visit
