Prince George's: Council member Turner chosen for national summit

County Council Member Ingrid Turner (D) - District 4, is one of 25 County leaders nationwide chosen to participate in the Sixth Annual County Leadership Institute, a rigorous four-day program developed by New York University's Robert F. Wagner Graduate School of Public Service in partnership with the National Association of Counties (NACo). Program participants will meet at the NYU-Wagner campus in New York City from May 26 - 30. 2009.The County Leadership Institute has graduated 116 members from 40 states and 110 counties across the country. Known for enhancing the capacity of county officials to identify and implement innovative solutions to the complex challenges facing county government in the 21st century, this year's program will focus closely on the immediate issues of local economic recovery.

"It is important to recognize that in Prince George's County, we are not alone in the challenges we face. It is important for us to reach across jurisdictional lines, share best practices, and work together to identify viable solutions to our challenges," said Council Member Turner. "I look forward to making significant contributions of my own, drawing from the innovative ideas of my fellow participants in the program, and bringing back information that will benefit our citizens."

NACo covers program costs, including those associated with Council Member Turner's participation. Costs are also offset by corporate and non-profit sponsoring organizations.
